As of 5:40 this morning, the Saugus area experienced over 2.8 inches of rain and the Newhall area nearly 4 inches of rain, according to David Sweet, meteorologist at the National Weather Service.

“There has been a little bit of rain since then,” Sweet said. “(There) will be a little bit of shower activity scattered about and will continue through the morning and will decrease in the afternoon.”

Officials ask that residents do not attempt to drive through standing or moving water as just six inches of water could carry away a vehicle. They also advise caution and to be aware of any boulders or other debris in the roadway and report any downed power lines and odors of natural gas immediately.
