A wind advisory is in effect for up to 35 miles per hour with gusts reaching 50 miles per hour until 10 A.M. Friday, officials said.

Thursday morning, gusts in the Antelope Valley were recorded at 53 mph.
A Wind Advisory is generally issued by the National Weather Service when there are sustained winds of 31–39 miles per hour.
Winds will trigger damages in several areas, including the Santa Clarita and Antelope Valleys, according to National Weather Service forecasters.
“Winds this strong may down trees and power lines, causing property damage or power outages. Cross winds can make driving difficult, especially for drivers of high profile vehicles and vehicles towing trailers,” warned an NWS statement.

Cross winds can make driving difficult throughout the I-5 freeway and highway 14.
The I-5 freeway will be especially impacted by the strong winds, making it challenging to travel through the Grapevine.
Those who plan on traveling should be aware that cross winds will be likely at LAX on Thursday, potentially affecting air traffic, according to National Weather Service forecasters.
