“We are expecting a heat wave that could bring triple digit temperatures,” said Keily Delerme, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service.

Wednesday through Thursday, highs are expected to peak around 100 degrees with low humidity levels.

Even though temperatures are set to be high and humidity levels are low, the National Weather Service has not issued any fire watches for Santa Clarita.

“There are no fire watches for the area,” Delerme said.

Even though conditions don’t meet the standards for high fire watches, brush fires can spark at any time, according to officials.

The Los Angeles County Fire Department is monitoring the weather conditions and will add more resources in areas prone to brush fires if they feel it is necessary, according to LACoFD officials.

By the weekend, temperatures are set to start a 20 degree cool off.

“By Friday, temperatures will cool off down to the 90s, and by Saturday through the beginning of next week, temperatures will be in the low to mid 80s,” said Delerme.

About Louie Diaz

Louie was born and raised in Santa Clarita. At the age of two Louie lost his vision due to a brain tumor. However, Louie doesn't let blindness stop him from doing what ever it is he wants to accomplish. Growing up some of his favorite hobbies were wood working, fishing and riding bikes. Louie graduated from College of the Canyon in December of 2017, with a Broadcast Journalism degree. Growing up Louie has always wanted to be a fire fighter or a police officer, but because of his blindness Louie knew that wouldn't work. Louie has always loved listening to police and fire radio traffic, using a scanner, and he figured if he was going to listen to the scanner so much, he should do something with it.
