SCV Buzz – Family Fun Activities In Santa Clarita – July 22, 2015

This weekend in Santa Clarita may be sunny, or it may have a torrential downpour and flash flooding. To be prepared for anything, you may want to plan for both indoor and outdoor activities with your kids. (And DON’T try to convince your kids a flash flood is a waterslide park. They won’t go for it.)

Here are my top 5 picks for family fun in Santa Clarita this weekend:

Library Reading Jamboree Finale

SCV Buzz - July 22You did it! You convinced your kids to actually read over the summer! With a little help from the Santa Clarita Library… Take the family to celebrate that miracle at the Summer Reading Jamboree Finale.

It’s Saturday, July 25th from 10 am to 2 pm at Newhall Park and will have booths, awards, prizes, the magic of The Wacko Show and music from Nathalia Palis. Visit their website for details.

You all deserve a prize for your hard work over the summer. Especially you, parents!

Summer Bash

NOBODY parties like the City of Santa Clarita, seriously. So if you want a family friendly party to take full advantage of the summer, then check out the Summer Bash they are throwing.

Friday, July 24th from 6 to 10 pm check out the Block Party on Luther Drive between Soledad Canyon Rd and Mandan St in Canyon Country. Music, food trucks, and family fun activities are all part of the fun and admission is free.

So party with the city and make all those other cities super jealous (we are talking to you, Burbank.)

2015 Special Olympics World Games Los Angeles

SCV Buzz – July 22The Special Olympics, of which Santa Clarita is a Host Town, opens this weekend and there are a ton of opportunities to take your kids to see the festivities.

The Opening Ceremony takes place this Friday, July 25th, and is the only part of the event that you need to buy tickets for (use the code WGFANS for a discount). The rest of the games are free to attend and you can get the full schedule with locations on their website. www.la2015.org.

You and your kids will both enjoy and be inspired by these incredible athletes, so make sure to go!
