SCV Buzz - Labor Day

SCV Buzz – Family Fun Activities In Santa Clarita – September 2, 2015

There is a lot of “Labor” in parenting. And, a lot of opportunity for great memories as well – so make some this Labor Day Weekend!

Here are my top 5 picks for Family Fun in Santa Clarita this weekend:

Operation Art: Minecraft Edition

SCV Buzz - Labor DayKids love Minecraft like adults love watching reality shows. But why not make their Minecraft experience a little more 3D by taking them to Operation Art: Minecraft Edition at the Old Town Newhall Library.

You can kick off the holiday weekend by heading to the library’s community room on Friday, September 4th from 3:30 to 5pm for a free art adventure. Kids 9 and up can construct the world they love so much in the video game by using recycled materials, art supplies and their imaginations.

Adults, it might be fun to attempt this same project with that reality show you love… cardboard roses, anyone?

Big Papa and the TCB Concert in the Park

“Summer is over” you say? “No more outdoor fun for us!” you believe? I say “NAY!!!” go outside and enjoy a concert at the Richard Rioux Park.

Big Papa and the TCB, a Rhythm and Blues band is playing from 6:30 – 8:30 pm on Saturday, September 5th, and will play their way into your hearts in this free concert sponsored by the L.A. County Arts Commission. Check out their website for details.

“Summer is AMAZING” is what you will be saying from now on.

Fun Labor Day Party Games

SCV Buzz - Labor DayAre you throwing a Labor Day Party? If so, it’s always a great idea to find some fun activities and games for any children attending so they don’t come up with their own that may involve the walls and your cosmetics drawer. So here are some ideas to keep the kids safely having a blast:

Backyard Scavenger Hunt: A brown paper bag with the items written in a sharpie will easily do the trick.

Mural Fun: A roll of butcher paper (or a sheet) and washable markers or paint can be a huge hit.

Freeze Dance: It’s FREEZE DANCE, the best game ever! Dance, stop, dance, stop again. What’s not to love?

Whatever you do I hope you have a fantastic and safe holiday weekend, and continue to always look for the fun things to do with your kids.
