In addition to hosting a series of free healing workshops throughout the day, owner and licensed acupuncturist Kathleen Kenneally also offered a specialized seasonal acupuncture treatment to patients who may be seeking a holistic approach to their healthcare this winter.SCV Residents Find Healing At Kenneally Acupuncture Winter Seasonal Event

“It’s a special treatment that uses certain points of the body that help you transition from one season to the next,” said Maureen Benoit, the event’s coordinator. “A lot of people who actually do participate in this seasonal treatment are doing it in lieu of a flu shot– there’s a lot of people that don’t do flu shots, don’t believe in flu shots or are afraid of flu shots.”

Seasonal treatments are offered four times per year during specific time frames of seasonal changes to maximize effectiveness.

“There’s a little window where you can actually do it, because you’re coordinating with the actual season itself,” Benoit continued. “It’s the summer solstice, the equinox– all of those very specific windows of opportunity. There’s a three day span, three days before and three days after; those are the only times that you can do it on that particular season change.”

Kenneally offers the treatment at a discounted rate during that season’s time frame, and holds a one-day seasonal event with free community lectures and activities.

Saturday’s speakers included spiritual mentor and author LeeAnn Taylor, certified hypnotherapist and shamanic healer Penny Randall, intuitive percussive healer Giavanni Washington and more.

“These classes can have a huge impact on a person’s emotional and physical well being,” Benoit added. “They’re services of love.”

Shamanic healer and animal communicator Ayamanatara led a unique mediation hour using crystal Tibetan singing bowls, and Benoit herself spoke about the relationship between body image and food consumption.

“There’s a direct correlation between body image perception and how we eat,” Benoit said. “Most often times, most women do not like their bodies, and they don’t realize that a lot of it has to do with what you’re eating… (My program) ‘Love Your Body, Nourish Your Body’ begins with understanding your personal and ancestral relationship with sugar, our national sugar addiction crises and choosing the right sugars.”

The next seasonal event, which will help Santa Clarita Valley residents transition from winter to spring, is scheduled for March 21 at the center’s Canyon Country location. New patients and existing patients who refer a friend are set to receive a $5 gift card to the center’s store.
