Hosting their 23rd Annual Rose Show, Santa Clarita Valley Rose Society members are hosting their “Wild West Roses” themed rose show at William S. Hart Park on Saturday, Nov. 5.

Many rose growers throughout the Southern California area will be exhibiting their roses in the show, including different rose specimen. Some of the different roses expected to be in attendance include hybrid teas like “St. Patrick,” miniature roses like “Magic Show,” and minifloras like “Abby’s Angel.”

There will be over 45 tables full of rose displays exhibiting some these creations, but there will also be artistic arrangements, antique roses from the 1800s, a table celebrating the “Most Fragrant Roses,” and a new section of the show called “Rose in a Wine Bottle.”

Novice and children gardeners are even welcome to display their homegrown roses with no entry fee or membership required. Anyone interested in displaying their roses are to simply bring them in a container of water and members of the SCV Rose Society will provide the vases and the entry tags.

There will be 75 cash prizes awarded to many types of roses, with some of the different categories including Miniature Queen, Hybrid Tea Queen, and Best Antique Rose.

Rose entires will be received on the morning of the show from 7-9:45 a.m. From 10 a.m. to noon, teams of horticultural rose judges from the American Rose Society will judge entries before choosing the top prize-winning roses.

Once judging has ended at around 12:30 p.m., the event will then welcome guests where they can then observe the many roses before the event closes at 4 p.m.

Free and open to the public, the 23rd annual Rose Show, co-sponsored by the County of Los Angeles Department of Parks & Recreation, will be held in Hart Hall in William S. Hart Park.
