‘SCV Santa’ In Need Of Christmas Miracle As Home Faces Foreclosure

“SCV Santa” has been bringing holiday cheer to underprivileged children and families in the Santa Clarita Valley for the last decade, and this year a GoFundMe page is seeking assistance from the community for Santa Clarita’s own St. Nick.

Every year for the last 10 years, the Spargifiore family goes out into the public, dressed in Christmas garb, to provide holiday cheer to families in need, absorbing most of the cost.

Jonathan and Domenica Spargifiore, who have played Mr. and Mrs. Claus since 2007 alongside their younger brother and sister, who play Santa’s helpers, have come as a complete Christmas package to charity events in the community for years.

The Spargifiores have worked in conjunction with many city and county organizations, such as LASD, CHP, LAPD, LACoFD and DCFS, to spread holiday cheer for kids at various events as well.

They will be in Val Verde with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Department handing out toys and taking pictures with over 1,000 children and teens on Tuesday.

Maria Spargifiore, mother of the “SCV Santa” team, has supported the family’s efforts by coordinating events, taking pictures of the kids and gifting the pictures to the families since the beginning.

“They have been bringing Santa to the community for the last 10 years,” said Maria. ”It started out small with just a few home visits. Then it grew.”

However, despite the happiness and cheer they distribute throughout the holiday season, the Spargifiore family is facing their own personal struggles.

“They have lived in Santa Clarita for 20 years in the same home, which they may be losing come Jan 12,” said Maria.

Maria stated that Jonathan and Domenica have a foreclosure date of Jan. 12, when their house is scheduled to go up for auction.

Yet they are continuing to go out into the community to bring Christmas to families in need in the Santa Clarita Valley.

Freddie Pena, who met the Spargifiore family about two months ago and learned of their struggles, decided to take action and start a GoFundMe page to seek support from the community.

“Even … with all the struggles, they manage to make sure the show goes on for the kids, cause to them, that’s the most important thing,” said Pena. “With all the struggles, they don’t charge for these events. They don’t make anything — they pay for everything.”

Anyone in the community interested in supporting the cause to help the “SCV Santa” and the Spargifiore family keep their home can donate on the GoFundMe page.

  2. Maria Spargifiore is a so called “caretaker” for elderly people. Not only does she financially abuse them, she leaves them living in filth and terrible conditions. Do not give this woman or her family your money.

  3. This Santa family goes beyond the norm, to attend as many events to help raise fund and toys for other kids in need, and this Christmas they need a Miracle, please help with what you can, and to help share the word by sharing this post so that other that may be able to help Can!
