For the month of May, Santa Clarita residents interested in gardening are welcome to attend two free classes offered by SCV Water on how to care for plants and flowers during spring.

Santa Clarita horticulturists are invited to SCV Water for a pair of seminars on how to care for perennials and the top 30 plants for the Santa Clarita Valley.
The first class is set to be on Thursday, May 17 at 6:30 pm and the second class is scheduled for Saturday, May 19 at 9 a.m., and both will be at SCV Water, according to officials.
Tim Wheeler, a certified arborist, is scheduled to lecture the May 17 class on how to care for perennials. Wheeler has over 25 years of experience in the industry specializing in landscape management, landscape education and water conservation. Participants will receive a list of perennials that can help spice up their landscape with texture and pops of color.
On May 19, SCV Water officials will teach residents how to care for a variety of plants well suited for the Santa Clarita Valley’s environment.
Stephen Williams, professor of horticulture at Mt. S.A.C, is expected to lead the May 19 class on caring for Santa Clarita’s top 30 plants. Williams has been affiliated with U.C.C.E. Master Gardeners since 1996, and has been teaching free, weekly home gardening classes for 10 years. Attendees will learn maintenance techniques on how to help 30 different plants thrive in our valley’s climate during spring.
All classes will be held at SCV Water, located at 27234 Bouquet Canyon Road.
