Sheriffs Crime Reports Include Robberies, Felony Arrest

Two children and a man were killed in an Interstate 5 traffic crash in the early morning hours Monday, CHP officials said.

A gym trip and an alleged joy ride led to a felony arrest Tuesday, according to Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station officials.

A Sherman Oaks attorney pleaded “no contest” to smuggling heroin to into the North County Correctional Facility in Castaic, officials said Wednesday.

Established in February of 2006 in the city of Santa Clarita, Vital Intervention and Directional Alternatives, VIDA, is an intensive 16-week program designed to assist “at-risk” teens, between the age of 11 and 17.

Investigators remain unclear on what killed a man found dead Friday in the Santa Clara River wash in Canyon Country, officials said Wednesday.

Crime Reports

KHTS publishes crime reports in alphabetical order by community as they are made available. Here are the crime reports for Castaic/ Val Verde, Newhall and Stevenson Ranch.

Castaic/Val Verde

Fatal Collision

A petty theft was reported from the 30000 block of San Martinez Road. Two juvenile males were detained by responding deputies for reportedly stealing items from the local liquor store.  Both subjects were released to their parents from the Santa Clarita Sheriff station.

Newhall

Between Thursday the 11th at 5:30 p.m., and Friday the 12th at 5:10 a.m., a vehicle inside an attached garage was burglarized in the 23700 Valle Del Oro.  A window was smashed and hand tools were stolen.

A small fire was intentionally started in the 24600 block of Walnut Street sometime between Friday the 5th, and Monday the 8th.  Although damage to property was minor, the incident is being investigated an arson.

A Chevy “Tahoe” was burglarized on Sunday the 14th, between 2:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m., near Costa Brava and Valle Del Oro.  The 3rd row seat, a purse, and a digital camera were stolen from the vehicle.

On Tuesday the 9th at 2:00 p.m., a bicycle was stolen from the 24300 block of Newhall Avenue.  The bike was described as red and black, 1 speed, with a flat front tire.  A witness believes they may have seen 2 male adults with tattoos down both arms, pushing the bike away from the location.

On Monday the 8th at 4:40 a.m., a cargo trailer was stolen from a business in the23800 block of Pine Street.  The trailer was recovered by LAPD on Thursday the 11th attached to a stolen truck.

An 18 year old female was arrested last week for having narcotics on a school campus, and a 37 year old male was arrested for punching a neighbor during an argument.

Stevenson Ranch

A Residential Burglary incident occurred in the 25300 block of Silver Aspen Way. Unknown suspect(s) entered the victim’s garage, via unknown means, while the residents were on vacation. A game console, Audio System and the victim’s debit was stolen. The victim’s debit card was later used to make various purchases. The victim’s vehicle was rummaged through.

A Burglary and a Felony Vandalism occurred on school property in the 26200 block of Valencia Blvd. Unknown suspect(s) entered various school buildings via unknown means and stole cash and candy. The suspect(s) then spray painted graffiti extensively throughout the school. Doors were pried open from the inside to exit the school buildings.

A Grand Theft occurred at a business in the 24900 block of The Old Road. An unknown suspect stole a “Fender” electric bass Guitar. The guitar was dark in color at the edges and faded to white in the middle.

A Grand Theft of a Vehicle occurred while parked at a business in the 24700 block of Pico Canyon Road. Unknown suspect(s) stole the victim’s parked and unattended 1999 Ford E150 white van. The van had chromed wheels and a yellow sticker on the left rear door that read “MAKES FREQUENT STOPS”.

A Burglary to Vehicle incident occurred at a business in the 24900 block of The Old Road. Unknown suspect(s) stole the victim’s car keys, wallet, California Driver License and sunglasses from his locked gym locker. The suspect(s) then stole the victim’s vehicle (a blue 2014 Toyota Tacoma pickup truck) while it was parked in the business’s parking lot.

Two Shoplifting incidents occurred in the 25000 block of The Old Road. During the first incident a Newhall resident was taken into custody by Santa Clarita Valley Station deputies. During the second incident, three suspects (two Sun Valley residents and one Granada Hills resident) were taken into custody by Santa Clarita Valley Station deputies.

A Petty Theft incident occurred in the 24900 block of The Old Road. Unknown suspect(s) entered the victim’s locker and stole the victim’s iPhone6, sunglasses and clothing.

A second Petty Theft incident occurred in the 25400 block of The Old Road. The victim reported leaving her iPad at the self check-out register. When she returned to retrieve it, it was gone. Video surveillance cameras revealed an unknown female with tattoos on both arms, retrieving the iPad from the register and exiting the store.
