Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station deputies responded to a report of a possible kidnapping in Newhall Thursday night.

“We found a gentleman of interest,” said Lt. Rob Hahnlein. “We are still conducting an investigation.”
Sheriff’s deputies said the incident occurred near the 24200 block of Arch Street, near 5th Avenue and Race Street.
UPDATE: 8:39 p.m.
“Deputies are on scene investigating a kidnapping where a male adult allegedly kidnapped a 3-year-old from a house,” said Deputy Josh Dubin with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station. “The 3-year-old is unharmed and has been returned to the family. The suspect is in custody.”

On Thursday, Jan. 08, 2015 at approximately 7:00 p.m. deputies assigned to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station responded to a possible kidnapping that had just occurred on the 24200 block of Arch Street in the Newhall area of Santa Clarita.
A male adult allegedly grabbed ahold of a 3-year-old female by reaching through a bedroom window at the female’s residence. The suspect then allegedly ran down the street holding onto the 3-year-old female. Family member’s chased the suspect and were able to regain custody of the 3-year-old female.
Once on scene, deputies assigned to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station acted quickly and chased the suspect further down the street. Deputies set up a containment of the area where the suspect was then ultimately apprehended and arrested without incident.
The 3-year-old female, although startled, was unharmed in this incident.
The name and age of the suspect is not being released at the time as this investigation is on-going. It appears there is no relation between the suspect and the 3-year-old victim or her family. Deputies will remain on-scene through the late evening hours to further this investigation and gather additional evidence.
