Johnson was recognized by the city for his service over the last three years as captain of the station. He was notified recently of his promotion to commander.

Lewis also is expected at his new post Sunday, when he’s expected to start as captain of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

He was previously the interim Sheriff’s Station captain, as he was a lieutenant at the station when the previous full-time captain, Paul Becker, retired.

Johnson’s next assignment is set for Men’s Central Jail, one of the largest in the country, which houses thousands of suspects and recently convicted inmates in the Los Angeles County courts.
