The 2018 event will take place on Sunday, Feb. 25 from 1 – 5 p.m. at the Valencia Country Club.

The upcoming fundraiser will be raising money for programs that the Soroptimist International of Valencia group, known as  SIV, provide for women who have educational needs.

The theme for this year will be Route 66, organizers from SIV said.

The “Gentlemen” will be 16 Santa Clarita men who are donating items or services to be auctioned off.

Some of these services include dental work and survival fitness memberships, Suzanne Stone, the president of SIV, said.

There will also be a dozen prize baskets to be raffled off of as well, Stone added.

General tickets and sponsorship donations can also be bought through the SIV website.

“Our funds will be going towards two programs: ‘Dream It Be It Career Support For Girls’ and ‘Live your dream,’” Stone said.

‘Dream It Be It Career Support For Girls’ is a program aimed at empowering young girls in secondary school with organized talks from local leaders who discuss education, goal setting and career building.

“We need to train our young generation to find their voice to become strong women,” Stone said. “Empowering these women to let them know that they have a voice and speak up.”

‘Live Your Dream’ is an SIV program that awards educational grants to Santa Clarita women who are economically disadvantaged.

For the last seven years, Soroptimist International of Valencia has been organizing the annual “Gentlemen for a Cause” fundraising event, according to a news release.

SIV was created by women, for women and about women, the organization’s website said. The goal of the Soroptimist organization is to improve the lives of women and girls through programs leading to social and economic empowerment.

The SIV organization has around 76,000 members in over 120 countries and territories and has been serving its members since 1974, the organization’s website said.
