Six Flags attendance rose 27 percent last quarter with the help of the opening of Hurricane Harbor Mexico and a new 365-day schedule at Magic Mountain.
Overall, attendance at Six Flags properties across the country grew from 500,000 to 2.4 million guests.
“We are firing on all cylinders as we made excellent progress in the quarter against each of our five growth initiatives,” said Jim Reid-Anderson, Chairman, President and CEO. “We are poised to deliver another record year of financial performance in 2018.”
In the first quarter of 2018, the company invested $42 million in new capital projects, according to park officials.
The company’s total revenue increased by $29 million, or 30 percent from the first quarter of 2017 to a record-high $129 million.
The increase in total revenue was due in part to the record-high Active Pass Base, growing dining pass penetration and new international licensing agreements, according to Jim Reid-Anderson.
The company recently announced the development of three new parks in China.
The parks will be located in Nanjing, the second largest city in the East China region.
Six Flags Nanjing will offer guests a theme park, waterpark and an adventure park.
The first phase of the multi-million dollar entertainment complex is expected to open in 2021, according to Six Flags officials.
