Solar Eclipse In Santa Clarita, Where To Watch, Safety Tips

“On Monday, August 21, 2017, all of North America will be treated to an eclipse of the sun. Anyone within the path of totality can see one of nature’s most awe inspiring sights – a total solar eclipse,” says NASA’s Eclipse2017 website.

One of the safest and most efficient ways to view the eclipse would be through Eyes on the Eclipse on the NASA Eclipse 2017 website. You can view the “Interactive, 3D simulation of the total eclipse…you can see a view of the eclipse from anywhere on the planet.”

Using the application you can easily switch between multiple locations across the globe getting a complete view of the eclipse possible from the safety and comfort of your own home.

For the more adventurous star-gazer or just simply people who want to appreciate the event in person a pair of special glasses with solar filters commonly referred to as “Eclipse Glasses.”

For those who may have run out of time to get their own pair of “Eclipse Glasses” a simple to make device known as a Pinhole Projector.

NASA has created a video to show you how you can make your own Pinhole Projector at home in time for Monday’s eclipse.

If you missed the safety glasses giveaway, a free viewing event will also be hosted on Monday, August 21, 2017, from 10-11 a.m. at the Old Town Newhall Library Community Room.
