The American Diabetes Association (ADA) and Six Flags Magic Mountain have teamed up to raise funds as part of 95 “Step Out” walks across the country on November 4.
“Anyone is welcome to attend the event,” said Teresa Todd, spokesperson. “If you or someone you care about has been affected by diabetes or even if you are just a little curious — everyone should come enjoy the park.”
The fundraising event starts at 8:30 a.m. before the park opens to the general public. Walkers are able to enjoy the festivities, which are expected to include celebrity guest appearances, information tables and games.
The walk is free to attend, but a minimum of $100 must be raised to receive an event t-shirt and a ticket to Magic Mountain to be used on Nov. 4, said organizers.
The Step Out Walk to Stop Diabetes comes two weeks after a similar event in Griffith Park, which drew thousands of attendees to raise money for the research organization.
There are nearly 30 million Americans who have diabetes. Every dollar raised through the Step Out Walk to Stop Diabetes plays an important role in supporting the Association’s mission: to prevent and cure diabetes and to improve the lives of all people affected by diabetes, according to the ADA.
The American Diabetes Association is leading the fight to stop diabetes and its deadly consequences, and fighting for those affected by diabetes.
The Association funds research to prevent, cure and manage diabetes; delivers services to hundreds of communities; provides objective and credible information; and gives voice to those denied their rights because of diabetes.
