The City of Santa Clarita and Southern California Edison will begin installation of new streetlights along portions of Sierra Highway beginning in mid-July.

Additional streetlights will also be installed along Bouquet Canyon Road, starting in August. Construction will take place during the hours of 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and drivers should expect slight delays, according to city officials.

Motorists are also asked to pay close attention to posted “No Parking” signs.

A total of 79 new streetlights will be installed on the northbound and southbound portions of Sierra Highway, beginning at Soledad Canyon Road and extending north to College of the Canyon’s campus exit. Construction in this zone is expected to end in early September.

Furthermore, new streetlights will be placed on the eastbound portion of Bouquet Canyon Road from Festividad Drive to Centurion Way. Installation of these streetlights is expected to be completed this coming fall.

For more information regarding these streetlight installations, please contact Special Districts Manager Kevin Tonoian at ktonoian@santa-clarita.com or (661) 290-2210.

  1. What about sidewalks on Sierra from Soledad to College of the Canyons? There are plenty of gaps between existing sidewalks along that whole stretch. And a bike lane would be nice. Don’t see many areas in Valencia without sidewalks.

  2. A couple of street lights beyond the college exit would be crucial as well.
Davenport and Sierra and either Steele and Sierra or Agua Dulce Canyon road and Sierra. Not only is turning onto sierra dangerous from these two roads, but there is no lighting during the night and it would slow down traffic on Sierra to racers coming through this gateway from the antelope valley.
