Hosted by the Sulphur Springs Union and William S. Hart Union High School Districts, officials are holding the event to help provide information to parents about a variety of topics, such as bullying, safety, maintaining healthy relationships and more.
“There is a lot of information that will be presented, and some you may not be aware of, and it affects your family,” said Hart District Spokesman Dave Caldwell. “The resources will be there to provide information, but it’s (also) how you can best receive support.”
Sulphur Springs District Superintendent Dr. Catherine Kawaguchi sought to coordinate the event because so many Sulphur Springs students feed into Hart district schools, said Caldwell.
“This is something that she was doing at (her previous) district and found it useful,” Caldwell said. “She saw there was a similar need and asked to put together this partnership and brought in a coalition who are all very involved.”
The fair will include many information booths held by different agencies available to provide any resources or support needed. Motivational speaker and Valencia High School graduate Jake Kelfer will also be the keynote speaker at the event to motivate and inspire local families.
The first inaugural Family Resource Fair is set for Saturday, Feb. 25 from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and will be held at Golden Valley High School, located at 27051 Robert C. Lee Parkway.
