The blaze is not currently threatening any structures and is contained within the landfill, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
The Sun Fire was reported at 3 p.m. Thursday, near the corner of Sunshine Canyon Mountain Way and Weldon Mountain Way in Newhall.
The brush fire is in a “mutual aid zone” with both Los Angeles County Fire and Los Angeles City Fire personnel responding to the incident.
