Deputies responded around 12:30 p.m. to simultaneous calls about a potential burglary at a residence at the 17200 block of Mount Stephen Avenue in Santa Clarita, officials said.

We received information from an informant that someone was breaking into the residence there,” said Lt. Bryan Aguilera, “around the same time, we got an audible burglary alarm from an informant that someone was breaking into a residence there.”

“We responded (with lights and sirens) to that location and the residents directed us to where the suspects went.

Deputies quickly canvassed the area that the suspects were seen driving into, he added.

There were three suspects who exited a vehicle, according to preliminary reports and two were detained after deputies followed witness reports into the area of River Circle and Nugget Drive.

One of the persons detained by deputies, after the suspects were located, ended up being a juvenile who had been reported missing. Deputies noted they did not have enough evidence directly linking the minor to the crime, so he was released to the custody of a parent who was contacted.

A third is suspected to have escaped to the wash near Sierra Highway and Jakes Way.

No weapons were found and no one was hurt in the incident, according to officials.
