Luis Guillermo Sanchez, 24, was in court to answer to two counts of assault with a deadly weapon and two counts of hit and run driving resulting in an injury to another person.
The criminal complaint filed against Sanchez alleged two previous convictions, one for resisting arrest in February of last year, and a conviction in August 2016 for felon in possession of a firearm charge.
Sanchez turned himself in at Mike’s Tires in Santa Clarita, shortly after the incident last Wednesday night.
From a previous story:
Sanchez bumped his car into another customer’s car, apparently by accident, and an argument ensued, which escalated to a fistfight, according to initial reports.
Sanchez then reportedly left the location, and returned, and it’s alleged during his return trip that he tried to run over someone with his car, a white sedan.
“I saw the driver of the car try to hit one of my employees,” said Michael Cone, the owner Mike’s Tire Man. “This behavior is unacceptable. I feel very sad about the fact that it involved one of my employees.”
The suspect then allegedly tried to hit the original victim’s car on purpose this time, but at this point, there were two small children inside the other customer’s car, when Sanchez crashed into it, according to the initial report.
Sanchez then fled the store again, but returned and turned himself into deputies.
He was then arrested for assault with a deadly weapon, child endangerment and criminal threats. The D.A. filed four charges, including two counts of hit and run.
No one appeared to be injured in the incident, according to medical personnel.
Fire officials dispatched an ambulance that was on scene around 7:51 p.m., however, no one was transported for injury.
The report is under investigation by Sheriff’s Station officials, and no other information was available at this time.
Sanchez is being held in lieu of $180,000 bail at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station jail. He’s due back in court July 13.
