The original call came in as a gunman threatening a clerk for money at the Rodeway Inn on the 31550 block of Castaic Road, according to officials.

Deputies were able to locate the suspect the same day, according to Shirley Miller, a spokeswoman for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

Hector Hernandez, 26, was arrested Saturday on charges of robbery, burglary, felon in position of firearm, appropriation of lost property and possession of a controlled substance.

“The victim reportedly was in his hotel room with the door open when the suspect entered, pointed a handgun at the victim and demanded money,” Miller said.

Hernandez allegedly stole around $50 from the Rodeway Inn and fled the scene before officials were able to make an arrest, according to initial reports. However the suspect was seen entering a nearby RV park.

“When our deputies tracked down this individual, we found a person with narcotics,” said Lt. Leo Bauer with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station. “Our deputies saw the dope dealer coming away from our suspect and stopped both of them.”

Officials also detained two parolees parked “inches” away from the scene of the arrest, discovering that the two had “no bail” warrants out for their arrest, according to Bauer.

Hernandez’s bail is set at $100,000.
