Deputies received a call a few minutes before 7 p.m. regarding a victim who reportedly was driving on the 18200 block of Soledad Canyon Road, near River Circle Road, in Canyon Country.
The victim reportedly sprayed the suspect’s car while trying to clear up his view from the dashboard, deputies said.
“It was a little road rage,” said Lt. Hahnlein, citing the initial reports from witnesses. “Somebody’s windshield wiper squirted out and over-sprayed, and it got on the suspect’s car and he didn’t like it.”
The suspect reportedly produced a black, small-caliber handgun and fired a bullet at the victim’s car, hitting the victim’s tire, and then drove off westbound on Soledad Canyon. The suspect’s car, a dark gray Honda sedan, reportedly had paper dealer plates, according to witnesses.
The victims waited approximately 10 minutes before calling the Sheriff’s Station to report the incident, according to officials. Deputies are unclear why, however the response time made it difficult for deputies to find the shooter, officials said.
Detectives reportedly have a dashboard camera video that captured the incident, which is being reviewed by officials.
There were four individuals on the victim’s car, according to Sheriff’s Station deputies.
No one was hurt in the incident. No suspect has been arrested yet as of this story’s publication; however, the investigation into the incident is still in its preliminary phases.
Anyone with information regarding the event is asked to call the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station at 661-255-1121.
