Suspected Suicide Victim Identified As Santa Clarita Teen

The suspected suicide of a Santa Clarita teen Tuesday night has been identified by Coroner’s officials.

Keira Boyd, 17, of Santa Clarita, died from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot in her home earlier this week. Homicide detectives are treating the investigation as a suspected suicide, according to officials with the Los Angles County Coroner’s office.

Deputies responded to a call of a shooting victim at a single-family home at 7:20 P.M. on the 25400 block of Via Alcira Tuesday night.

Sheriff’s officials secured the house, found the mother and daughter, then escorted, by ambulance, a gunshot victim to Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital.

The 17-year-old female victim, was transported to the local trauma center where she was pronounced dead, according to officials.

Boyd, who has in her senior year, was a member of Hart High School’s Softball team, according to a post on their Twitter page.

“The Hart softball family has endured a tragic loss tonight. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Boyd family. Keira, you will forever hold a special place in our hearts. We will always love you. #OneHart.”
