‘SWAT’ Filming In Newhall Features Stars, Mock Guns And Road Closures

CBS’s “SWAT” was spotted on Main Street in Newhall, filming scenes at Way Station Diner with the show’s star, Shemar Moore, and other actors carrying mock guns.

Beginning early Monday morning, filming for SWAT took take place inside and around the Way Station coffee shop. Later in the afternoon, filming is scheduled to move down the street to El Trocadero Steak House.

In addition to the interior and exterior shots that producers have informed the city will take place, sections of 9th Street, Market Street and 6th Street will see either delays or complete shutdowns due to the filming.

“Signs will be posted ahead of time and personnel will be there if anyone has questions,” said Evan Thomason from the Santa Clarita Film Office. “The gunfire will be in a contained area and supervised by Sheriff’s deputies.”

On Wednesday, another production company is set to film inside and outside a vacant store on Walnut Street and IMAC Medical Group on Main Street.

The scenes will also include fake guns and gunfire, as well as breaking into a building and speeding off in a vehicle.

“Typically, it doesn’t make that much noise,” said Thomason.

Both sides of Main Street will also be closed from 5th Street, as well as portions of 6th Street, Walnut Street and 9th Street.

Filming on Monday took place both on the inside and outside of The Waystation diner.

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputies are on site for traffic control and safety at each location.
