The worldwide candle lighting event will honor and remember the memory of all children, siblings and grandchildren, regardless of age, who have died, officials said.

“Each time zone is starting (the lighting process) at 7 p.m. so there is a wave of light going on around the world.” Alice Renolds, the co-leader of the Santa Clarita chapter, said. “As the candles burn in each time zone, what it creates is a 24-hour wave of light around the world.”

The program will feature poems, selected readings, music, a slide show and performances with featured singers, officials said.

“We’ll also have battery operated candles that we hand out to all the participants that come.” Renolds said.

The Compassionate Friends” has more than 700 chapters in 19 countries, including the United States, Puerto Rico, and Guam, according to Renolds.

“We invite the entire community to come out and remember children, siblings and grandchildren so that their light will always shine.” Renolds said. “It’s important to come and honor them.”
