Ramon Hamilton, who founded and ran the SCV Film Festival for seven years, released “The Thread,” a series that tells an interactive story to its audience over a Facebook group.

“The Thread” combines Hamilton’s artistic experience of over 10 years with an evolving social media platform to reveal the possibilities of how stories can be told and shared, he said. The Think Ten Media Group (TTMG) co-founder had already received more than 500 likes for the project on Facebook.

The first part of the series, or Act One, of three parts, is expected to be available on social media for several weeks, Hamilton said.

“The first two to three weeks will be Act One of the three-part story,” Hamilton said. “Act One will be a two- to three-week process — however, we want this to be interactive, and based on the interactivity, it can transform based on user interactivity.”

Hamilton says the page will only show posts from its main character, Dianne Anderson.

“The first-person storytelling, coupled with the mystery being told through what feels like a person’s social media profile, allows the audience to feel a deeper connection to the storyteller, who is inviting them into their personal world and sharing some of the most intimate aspects of their life’s journey,” Ramon said in a news release.

The audience will be able to comment on, share and “like” posts to participate in the experience, Hamilton said. “The Thread” can be found on facebook under @TTMGPresents.

Hamilton notes the project is fictional, and that he’s yet to see concerns from anyone mistaking the project for a real-life concern from the protagonist, but he offers an explanation for first-time visitors to avoid confusion.

“It’s always a concern when you’re putting out content in a real-world kind of way,” Hamilton said, “but there is also the cover (video) of me explaining what the whole project is.”

TTMG is an independent production company co-founded by Jennifer Fischer and Ramon Hamilton.

TTMG currently conducts educational programs with LA’s BEST (the largest after-school provider for LAUSD), the City of Santa Clarita, iLead Santa Clarita and at UC-Riverside and the UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television through Spotlight On Hope.

Their feature-length narrative film SMUGGLED, earned them five “Best Of” Awards at film festivals and has been featured by NBCLatino, ABC, Univision and Fusion.
