Providence Holy Cross in Mission Hills and Providence Saint Joseph of Burbank were recognized for the fourth consecutive year.

Providence Tarzana Medical Center has managed to earn Healthgrades’ Distinguished Hospital Award for Clinical Excellence, fifth year running.

Healthgrades is a leading online consumer resource for comprehensive information about physicians and hospitals.

Healthgrades recognized 250 hospitals nationwide for quality, including 46 hospitals in California and 10 in Los Angeles County.

The distinction places these hospitals in the top 5 percent for excellence of more than 4,500 hospitals nationwide for excellence.

Sylvain Trepanier, DNP, regional chief clinical executive for Providence St. Joseph, accredited Providence Medical Centers standards of excellence for the new accolades.

“Providence is raising the standard for excellence in health care in the Valley and the surrounding communities,” said Trepanies, “Consistent quality is the result of hard-working, dedicated and highly skilled care teams and their commitment to sharing expertise to advance quality, safety and bedside care.”

From 2014-16, patients who underwent treatment in hospitals receiving the Distinguished Hospital Award had, on average, a 26.3 percent lower risk of dying than if treated in hospitals that did not achieve this distinction.

Brad Bowman, M.D., Healthgrades’ chief medical officer, described how Healthgrades helps patients make educated decisions about receiving health care.

“We commend hospitals that have achieved Healthgrades 2018 Distinguished Hospital Award for Clinical Excellence, demonstrating a steadfast commitment to high quality care for their patients,” said Brad Bowman “Hospitals that meet these high-quality standards will continue to distinguish themselves with consumers making decisions about where to receive care.”

During the 2018 study period (2014-2016), Providence Medical Center has showed superior performance in clinical outcomes for patients.
