This is the first year, since the festival began in 1994, that the event will be held in Old Town Newhall.
This year, the Santa Clarita Cowboy Festival will be held at William S. Hart Park in Newhall with performances scheduled at the Repertory East Playhouse, Canyon Theatre Guild and The Vu Bar and Lounge.
The festival will be held April 18-19 from 10 a.m.-6 p.m.
“Our loyal ticket buyers that we have had for many years, for the most part, have responded well to the way it’s going,” said Mike Fleming, festival director and an arts and events supervisor for the city of Santa Clarita. “Ticket sales are going very well for Canyon Theatre Guild. People are starting to understand what this change entails with the several different venues.”
Tickets can be purchased here.
More than 200 people have already purchased tickets for the event in the first 24 hours, he said.
“There is a wider variety of music and entertainment — alternative country, bluegrass, americana,” Fleming said. “There are some really interesting younger bands coming in. It’s really exciting.”
More than 8,000 attend the Santa Clarita Cowboy Festival every year.
“We get people from all over the United States,” Fleming said. “Most of the ticket buyers are people coming in from outside this valley. One lady from Alberta, Canada is coming.”
Tickets to get into Hart Park at $10 for adults and $7 for children.
Prices vary for the performances at the other venues.
The Santa Clarita Cowboy Festival is usually held at Melody Ranch, just a few miles from where the event is set to be held this year.
In a previous KHTS AM 1220 story, city officials and members of the Friends of Hart Park confirmed a discussion of the event having to move from Melody Ranch Motion Picture Studio, due to a previously agreed-upon arrangement the famous movie facility has made.
