Los Angeles County Fire officials responded to the Canine Country Club in Saugus at 7:12 p.m. to rescue the horse, said Supervising Fire Dispatcher Robert Diaz.

“We respond with a search and rescue team,” Diaz said. “They have a sling and try to set up a rope system (to rescue to horse).”

The horse reportedly walked out of the ditch at 8:13 p.m. with assistance. No injuries were reported, according to fire officials.

“That (horse) is awesome in more ways than can be described,” according to Helen Gunther, a friend of the horse’s owner, in a Facebook post. “Thankfully all went well and neither horse or owner sustained any serious injuries.”

  1. As a trail rider myself I’d sure like more info. Where did this happen? How? Was the horse being ridden at the time or was he turned out & loose? Did they end up using the sling or was the horse able to maneuver & get his legs under him? Was he sedated? More details please.
