In the first couple of years hosting the event, about eight bands would perform, according to officials.

“We host bands pretty much from around the area, now we’re up to about 20.” said Scott Ruiz, visual designer and band choreographer at Valencia High School. “The circuit that governs our competitions caps out at about 20 for weeknight shows so we’re right at the limit for that.”

Each school was welcomed onto the field and given three minutes to prepare for their routine.

A team that took more than three minutes to prepare for a performance would get docked on their final score, according to officials.

“We’ve been working on our field show production since the middle of July,” said Ruiz. “We love going to football games, we love supporting other athletic teams, but this is the money in the bag for us,” said Ruiz.

Throughout the season, Valencia High School traveled to five competitions, including the 7th Annual 2018 Valencia High School Field Tournament, according to officials.

If the team qualifies for championships they will get to perform in a 6th competition.
