Vikings turn in another dominant Foothill League outing, October 12 against Golden Valley.

Valencia Routs Golden Valley For 35th Straight Foothill League Win

Valencia QB Davis Cop accounts for 4 TDs as Valencia wins at a neutral site game at Canyon High School to remain undefeated in league play (3-0).

Under a lightning-filled sky on Friday night, in which had Valencia had 49 points at halftime, it was their defense that was truly super-charged against Golden Valley. After Valencia scored a touchdown on their opening drive, Golden Valley came right back to score a touchdown after a 7-yard rush by junior Johnathan Kaelin. That would be the only points allowed by Valencia’s defense.
Senior Davis Cop spread the ball around on his 9 pass attempts, throwing 4 TD passes to 4 different receivers before the halftime break. Senior Jaden Holmes scored on his only catch of the game, a 33yd screen pass from Cop on their first drive of the game. Senior Cade Erickson followed with a 44-yd TD reception and junior Hunter Koch ended the first quarter scoring with a 18yd TD reception to make it 21-7.
Cop continued early in the second quarter, with a hook and ladder pass to junior Aidan Baptiste, that made it 28-7. The Vikings defense got in on the scoring with senior Josh Doyle scoring on a interception return after picking off Golden Valley QB, senior Zack Chevalier. Junior RB Nick Pham and senior Jayvaun Wilson punctuated the half with TD rushes of their own, as Valencia went into halftime up 49-7.
It was a running clock for most of the second half, with a bright spot in the 4th quarter for the Golden Valley defense. Senior LB, Derrese Morganfield, ended up intercepting and returning an Ethan Aguillon pass for a TD. The 2-point conversion was good to make the final tally 49-15.
Valencia heads home for a showdown with Saugus (2-1, 6-2) on October 19th, while Golden Valley will be on the same field for their next game against the Canyon Cowboys (0-3, 2-6).
