College of the Canyons

Softball: The Cougars (25-14) completed the perfect 16-0 Western State Conference – East Division season with Tuesday’s 6-2 win over Barstow. Canyons will play a make up game at Mt. SAC today to conclude the regular season, then playoff seeding awaits. First pitch is at 4:00.

Baseball: Cougars Baseball (25-12) pounded Victor Valley 10-2 to remain a game behind Glendale for the WSC East title with two games to play.

Calvin Estrada stayed blistering hot at the plate, hitting his 11th home run of the season. His .447 average is 92 points better than the next Cougar.

Canyons is third in California as a team with 36 home runs on the year.

Los Angeles Dodgers

The third straight one run game didn’t end as well as the first two, with the Dodgers falling back to .500 after going down 3-2 to the Marlins.

It was no fault of Kenta Maeda, however, as Los Angeles received another quality start from the rotation. He pitched six innings and allowed just one earned run.

The Dodgers sit tied atop the National League in quality starts, and they’ll have the best in the business on the mound tonight for the rubber match.

Clayton Kershaw faces Trevor Richards in a late afternoon start. First pitch is at 4:35.
