Detectives from the Burglary-Robbery Task Force – part of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Major Crimes Bureau – believe there are additional victims throughout Los Angeles and Orange counties.

The task force was formed eight years ago to combat the ever increasing trend of organized crews who are committing daytime residential burglaries. Typically known as “knock-knock” burglars, these crews, often formed by gang members, utilize high-end luxury vehicles to blend into middle class and affluent neighborhoods where they break into homes and businesses, ransacking and stealing valuables such as cash, jewelry, and weapons.

The arrests were made after detectives observed four suspects commit a residential burglary in North Hollywood on Thursday, July 26 around 1:15 p.m.

They saw the suspects, who were in a silver Infiniti G35 sedan, driving slowly through neighborhoods in the Santa Clarita Valley and into the North Hollywood area. Eventually they watched as three suspects exited their vehicle and ultimately burglarize a home on 6500 block of Beeman Avenue.

Then, the three suspects emerge from the rear yard of the residence and quickly walked a short distance to their waiting vehicle.

As this transpired, BRTF Investigators coordinated with officers from the Los Angeles Police Department’s (LAPD) North Hollywood Division, who were responding to assist.

As the suspects began to enter their vehicle, BRTF Investigators, along with LAPD Officers initiated a high risk detention of the suspects and their vehicle.

Two adults and two juveniles were detained inside the vehicle. Stolen property, valued in excess of $10,000 was recovered within the car.  The recovered stolen property was confirmed to be stolen from the residence where the suspects were seen leaving.

The suspects were arrested and transported to LAPD North Hollywood Division Jail to be booked.

Bryan Moreno, an 18-year-old resident of Los Angeles, was booked on charges of residential burglary and subsequently released on a $50,000 bail. Additionally, at the time of his arrest he was out on bond from a recent Orange County residential burglary arrest.

Arturo Hernandez, an 18-year-old resident of Long Beach, was booked on charges of residential burglary and subsequently released on a $50,000 bail.

The juvenile subjects, a pair of 17-year-olds, were detained and released pending juvenile court proceedings.

The suspect’s vehicle used in this incident is a 2003 Infiniti G35, 4 door silver sedan license CA/5AUT507, with a “United States Marine Corps” sticker on the rear window.

LAPD North Hollywood detectives, in cooperation with LASD BRTF detectives, are handling the criminal filing and ongoing investigation of this burglary crew.

With assistance from LAPD Detectives, Sheriff Detectives will determine if these suspects were involved in recent residential burglaries occurring in the Los Angeles and Orange County areas.

The investigation and arrest of this residential burglary crew is an example of the ongoing cooperation and collaboration between the LASD and LAPD.

The LASD Major Crimes BRTF works closely and consistently with LAPD Detectives, North Hollywood Division in particular, in its mission to identify, investigate and arrest organized burglary and robbery suspects.

The MCB BRTF works closely in support of all LASD Station’s detective bureaus, as well as other Southern California law enforcement agencies.Residents and business owners are reminded to secure their properties, be aware of suspicious and unusual persons or vehicles, and to alert their local law enforcement immediately if suspicious activity is observed.

Were You A Victim Of This ‘Knock-Knock’ Burglary Crew?

  1. Why were they released??? Why was there bail so low?

  2. And exactly why was someone on bail for an existing robbery not detained without bail?

    What was this judge thinking?

  3. I don’t understand. If he was out on bail for related crimes, why was he allowed to post bail and go out into the public again? That does not make me feel Safe and our legal system seems to be putting his rights before mine!

  4. Why do we have Bail? Many states do not have bail..like New Jersey…If the police have just cause to hold you in jail …then hold them. This also levels the playing field between rich and poor. Not in this case but in very high profile cases where bail is a million dollars the wealthy walk free…. where a poor person stays in jail…. Ger rid of Bail in Califirnia…

  5. Proposition 47, the ballot initiative passed by California voters on November 4, 2014, reduces certain drug possession felonies to misdemeanors. It also requires misdemeanor sentencing for petty theft, receiving stolen property and forging/writing bad checks when the amount involved is $950 or less.

  6. This kind of legal shortcoming is why these kind of lazy criminals keep doing what they do. I don’t think the chance of them showing up for court is very high. I agree with the other comments. What is this judge doing sitting on the bench. I can’t believe you could be out on bond for the same type of crime and get released as a reward for doing it again. Hell of a lesson taught!

  7. All crimes in CA have been decriminalized so that the people who run this State (into the ground) can say crime has gotten lower since they have been in charge. The people in Charge of our State in Sacramento are bigger enemies of the people than these scumbag Knock Knock burglars.

  8. We were burglarized a year ago last March and while I provided photos and lists of jewelry taken, Sheriff’s deputies had no time for us. My neighbor described the car and saw them and still nothing. I called Sheriff’s Dpt 3 times and even went to the station and they wouldn’t give me the time of day!!! Very discouraging!

  9. I had my gas card skimmed at the pump at the former Exxon/Mobil station on Newhall Ave, (which used to be San Fernando road) about 1/2 mile from the 14 freeway. The crooks got almost $500 worth of gas at several area gas stations and I did not discover it until my bill came 10 days after he/she started his/her spending spree. I was assigned a detective from Valencia that did absolutely NOTHING to the crooks, even though there are cameras at these gas stations (the other ones were on Sand Canyon and Via Princessa and Sierra Highway).

Nothing was ever done to these crooks, even thought I’m sure they were on all cameras. That is why this stuff keeps happening. Criminals have more rights than law-abiding citizens! This state is going in the toilet!
