For the first time in school history, West Ranch football is off to a 7-0 start after a 46-14 win over Canyon on Friday night.
The Wildcats’ big win on Friday marks the first time the school’s football program has gone this far into a season while remaining undefeated. West Ranch’s dynamic duo, Ryan and Jovan Camacho, have helped lead the team to their best start ever.
Star Senior running back Ryan Camacho had a monster 398 yard, four touchdown night against Canyon on Friday. This performance helped Ryan stay atop the Foothill League leaderboards in total touchdowns scored (25), and rushing yards (1,151).
Like any good sibling, West Ranch’s star wideout, Jovan Camacho, provides his brother Ryan with plenty of competition. Jovan leads the Foothill League with 842 receiving yards, and is now second in total touchdowns (12) on the back of a 6-169-2 receiving line from last night’s game.
In the 46-14 victory, Senior quarterback Weston Eget turned in another great performance. He completed 14-of-32 passes going for 431 yards and five touchdowns.

Despite posting two interceptions, Canyon’s defense struggled to contain the Wildcats’ offense. Multiple missed tackles in the open-field and at the line-of-scrimmage killed the Cowboys.
The Cowboy’s poor tackling resulted in West Ranch scoring all of their touchdowns from at least 35 yards out, and at an average of 56 yards away from the endzone.
West Ranch now finds themselves tied with Saugus and Valencia at 2-0 after the first two weeks, and in a great position to challenge for first place in the Foothill League this year.
Next week’s Saugus at West Ranch game will have a major impact on the final standings of both teams this year, as each team has yet to play Valencia.
All eyes will be on West Ranch football to see if they can stand up to the tough competition that Saugus is. These teams square off next Friday, 7 p.m. at West Ranch High School.
