West Ranch Stays Hot In Commanding Win Over St. Genevieve

West Ranch rolled to another victory Friday night as they beat the St. Genevieve Valiants 46-24. West Ranch now 3-0 on the season.

The West Ranch Wildcats added another win to their impressive start to the year thanks to excellent performances from the Camacho brothers. Ryan and Jovan Camacho combined for five touchdowns, two of those coming on kick returns.

With the confidence of last week’s big 54-point win over Burroughs, West Ranch came into this game looking like the team to beat. The unwavering confidence emanated from the field as the Wildcats turned their pre-game laser focus into seven points on the scoreboard a little over a minute into the game.

St. Genevieve struggled to stop the run as Ryan Camacho had another strong game on the ground, running for 165 yards on just 6 carries. Ryan capped his performance with two huge rushing touchdowns, both over 40 yards out.

Most of the damage was done in the first half of the game as West Ranch had a commanding 32-3 lead at the break. The Wildcats’ special teams propelled their team forward generating two touchdowns (kickoff and punt return) and a blocked field goal all in the first half.

Flashing talent on both sides of the ball, West Ranch’s defense played a great game holding St. Genevieve out of the end zone until late in the third quarter. Bryce Buchanon of the Wildcats was the standout defender, involved in a number of tackles behind the line of scrimmage.

Wildcats’ quarterback Weston Eget didn’t have to do much in the victory with only 15 pass attempts on the night. Despite throwing an interception in the first quarter, Eget again looked good completing multiple passes down the field in what looks to be an exciting offense to watch this year.

Averaging over 45 points per game, West Ranch has now scored a staggering 139 points over three non-league games. With two games left in non-league play, West Ranch will play on the road at Royal in Simi Valley next Friday, and at home against Oak Park the following week. Next Friday’s game against Royal in Simi Valley starts at 7pm as the Wildcats look to extend their undefeated record to 4-0.
