Wheelchair Sports Festival Coming To Santa Clarita

The Triumph Foundation will be hosting their Wheelchair Sports Festival later this month to raise awareness of people living with disabilities in Santa Clarita.

On April 25 and 26 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. the community is invited to join in on the competition featuring wheelchair hockey, basketball, quad rugby, racquetball and hand-cycling at Santa Clarita Sports Complex Gymnasium.

The event will have coaches and instructors on hand to teach people the games and is open to all abilities.

Participants are encouraged to bring a sport wheelchair if you have one but will also have 30 extra wheelchairs participants can use.

A resource fair, art workshop and bake sale will also be on hand for the family-friendly event.

Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. and the games will begin at 9 a.m., participants must be 18 and older unless accompanied by a parent or guardian.wheelchair sports

The first 50 wheelchair users to arrive and register on Saturday will also receive a free event T-shirt.

Awards and prizes will be awarded for athlete of the year, most improved and outstanding volunteer.

The Awards Ceremony will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday.

In addition to the competition, the foundation is hosting a durable medical supplies drive to send to those who are disabled in impoverished countries.
