At around 10:30 p.m. Sunday night, Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station officials received a call that an armed man had attempted to rob someone in the Starbucks parking lot at the corner of Sierra Highway and Via Princessa.
“The individual walked up to a female in a vehicle with a semi-automatic handgun and asked her for money. She said she was homeless and he left,” said Sgt. Meyers of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.
Sheriff’s deputies attempted to locate the would-be robber in the nearby wash and storage center but were unable to locate the suspect, described only as a male.
While no one was injured and nothing was stolen, the incident highlights Los Angeles County’s continued struggle with homelessness. Just last month a woman who was believed to have been living in her car was found dead of a suspected suicide near a Babies “R” Us on Carl Boyer Drive.
