In the days leading up to its official launch in February, Yevo Food Santa Clarita representatives are talking about the history of the organic health food company and co-founder Peter Castleman’s vision for its creation.

Castleman, who has seen great success in the past with billion dollar companies such as Macaroni Grill and Crab Shack, always wanted Yevo Food to be about the health of the consumer rather than the profitability of the company, according to Bob Garite of Yevo Food.
“Peter Castleman is a billionaire,” Garite said. “He had a vision; he doesn’t need to make more money. He really wanted to change the world and the way they ate.”
Castleman partnered with chemist Chip Marsland, who formerly developed food for “the big box companies” that supply grocery stores, to co-found the company.

“(Marsland) really knew that the ingredients he was putting in (box foods) were not healthy,” Garite continued. “The antibiotics that you purchase in cans of soup and other liquid-type forms are not good for the body, and we all know that, but we continue to reach for that can of soup because it’s quick and fast.”
Marsland’s solution was to develop a process using organic, non-genetically modified foods that allows consumers to prepare flavorful, healthy meals in mere minutes without the loss of nutrients.
Of the 43 essential nutrients the body requires on a daily basis, two Yevo Food meals will give consumers 100 percent of their body’s requirement for the day.
In order to retain these vital nutrients in Yevo Food meals, the water is removed from organically grown foods using one of the largest dehydrators in the world. The process allows consumers to simply add water during meal preparation, which typically takes only three to four minutes.
One of the first Yevo Food meals being introduced in February is a protein-packed oatmeal.
“The amount of protein in the oatmeal is 26 grams, and that’s huge when you consider a normal package off the shelf is like six grams,” Garite said. “So you’re getting all your 43 nutrients and on top of that you’re getting the protein.”
