Albertsons, Ralphs and Sam’s Club to carry Patriot Blend coffee for 2007 Patriotic Drive
In an effort to show support for U.S. Troops, Newhall Coffee Roasting Company has partnered with Operation Gratitude to ship another 12,000 pounds of Patriot Blend coffee to Iraq and Afghanistan. This marks the 25,000th pound Newhall Coffee has donated to U.S. Troops since the war began 4 years ago. The 12,000 pounds are packaged in 120,000 individual portion packs for troops in the field. Each pack brews 10 cups of coffee which equates to 1,200,000 cups of coffee, or the 2,500,000th cup Newhall Coffee has donated to U.S. troops since 2003.
Newhall Coffee’s Patriot Blend is available in southern California stores starting May 25th. Albertsons, Ralphs and Sam’s Clubs in Southern California will feature the product in a show of support for the troops.
The Patriot Blend coffee was first introduced 4 years ago in March, 2003 for the purpose of allowing consumers to show their support to the troops with their purchase of the coffee.
“It is an honor to be partnered with Operation Gratitude. They are sending 60,000 care packages between Memorial and the 4th of July.” said Mitch McMullen. “We officially launch the Patriot Blend at the Benefit For Our Bravest street festival on May 19th, in Sherman Oaks California, where we will donate 100% of the proceeds from the sale of the coffee to Operation Gratitude”
Operation Gratitude seeks to lift troops' morale, and bring a smile to their faces by sending care packages to service members overseas. The care packages contain food, toiletries, entertainment items and personal letters of appreciation, all wrapped with good wishes of love and support. In 2001, two weeks after the 9/11 tragedy, the Benefit For Our Bravest Street Fair was started as a spontaneous fundraising event to help families of fallen NY firefighters. Since then, it has grown into a three-block outdoor street festival that both raises crucial funds and publicly honors and celebrates the role of America's "Bravest" — those who selflessly put their lives on the line for the greater good. This year, the Benefit will take place on May 19, 2007, and all the proceeds will go toward supporting Operation Gratitude.
