More than 150 students from five Hart District comprehensive high schools are participating in the 10th Annual Theatre Festival, Saturday, March 1 and 2.
The community is welcome to attend anytime at the Golden Valley High School Theater on Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., admission is $5.
The students will choose to participate in one of five different workshops at the COC Performing Arts Center then view a performance of IMPROVISED SHAKESPEARE on Friday, March 1.
The festival will be filled with dramatic and hilarious hours of costumed scenes and monologues featuring the Hart District’s most ambitious and accomplished young actors and actresses.
Students will be judged by theater professionals from COC and professional actors, some visiting from New York. Students will also enjoy a morning of workshops in Shakespeare, fencing, movement and mask work.
“The Santa Clarita Performing Arts Center at COC is so generous to provide the funny and exciting New York-based Improvised Shakespeare show to participating students free of charge,” said Stephen Whelan, theatre arts teacher of Valencia High School.
This unique event brings students together from across the Santa Clarita Valley.
“This is now a long-time tradition of collaborating with the theatre arts programs in the district and
College of the Canyons,” said Whelan.
