Suspect believed to be familiar with Santa Clarita area.
Officials are upping the ante on a local unsolved crime as Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich has offered a $20,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of a suspect believed to have committed sexual crimes against a 30-year-old woman in Castaic.
The crimes occurred on Thursday August 20 around 6:00 p.m. when the suspect asked the victim for a ride. She reportedly agreed on the condition that the suspect buy her a bottle of alcohol.
Somehow the suspect was then able to gain control of the car, which he drove to a remote location and proceeded to sexually assault, rape and sodomize her. The suspect could also face assault with a deadly weapon charges if caught.
Deputies believe the suspect may live locally in the Santa Clarita valley, because he was familiar with Castaic. They also believe he may be connected to the trucking industry in some capacity, possibly even a truck driver.
He is described as a male Hispanic or American Indian between the ages of 30-40 with long, shoulder-length brown or black hair. Witnesses describe him as a “transient type,” but “clean.”
Surveillance photos show him wearing a gray sleeveless tank top, dark shorts and a “Rock Star” hat worn backwards.
