Alan has always considered it important to give back to the community. He volunteered with LA County providing North Oaks Park evening staff services for 4 years, served for 13 years as the Chair of the Santa Clarita Adult Sports Committee, was a member of the Emergency Winter Shelter Site Selection Task Force, the Santa Clarita Open Space Committee, Friends of Hart School District Committee for Measure SA, the COC Canyon Country Site Selection Committee, the Santa Clarita Material Recycling Facility Site Selection Committee, the 2012 Samuel Dixon Rubber Ducky Regatta Committee, served on the City of Santa Clarita Open Space Financial Accountability and Audit Panel for 5 years and is a member of the Bridge-To-Home Homeless Shelter Task Force.
In 2002 Alan was elected Chair of the Canyon Country Advisory Committee, a position he continues to hold today. The Canyon Country Advisory Committee, a 501C3 corporation, serves Santa Clarita Valley community members by providing important information on key issues affecting our valley and providing residents with insight and coordination in obtaining City of Santa Clarita services.
