The earthquake that shook Santa Clarita this afternoon has been upgraded to a 4.3 magnitude by the U.S. Geological Service.
At 1:47, the valley trembled when the quake hit 4 miles east of Newhall.
Three notable aftershocks have been reported, a 2.3 magnitude at 2:40, a 2.0 magnitude at 1:50 p.m. and another of magnitude 2.6 at 1:53 p.m.

The USGS reports that the initial quake was less than a tenth of a mile deep, but was felt in the greater Los Angeles area.
