The Santa Clarita Film Festival promises to show some the
best up and coming film makers from around the world.
Santa Clarita will be hosting its 4th annual film
festival January 8-11.
This years film festival received entrants from all over the
world for its theme of family friendly shorts.
More then 150 films were submitted to the festival, and
winners will be selected from the five categories: Professional, College, High
School, Junior High and Script to Screen.
The format for the festival this year has changed to allow
the audience to help pick the winners for each category.
In addition to the film festival, organizers also run an
after school enrichment program called Script to Screen. This program gives students from local
schools an opportunity to make movies.
The students are allowed to produce films from the initial stages
of writing, to acting, to editing the films with movie quality programs.
“The students are allowed to do the whole process hands on,”
said Festival President, Jennifer Fischer.
The films are then shown on the big screen at the festival.
Screenings will beheld at the Repertory East Playhouse in
Old Town Newhall.
