Formal Sentencing on Thursday morning at 10a.m. PST
After 41 hours of deliberations in the sentencing phase of the Zacarias Moussaoui trial, a jury consisting of nine men and three women returned a verdict recommending that Moussaoui should spend the rest of his life in prison. Moussaoui is the first person convicted in the United States for his role in the attacks, which claimed nearly 3,000 lives when hijacked passenger jets crashed into the trade center, Pentagon and a Pennsylvania field. The jury had two choices – death by injection or life in prison.
U.S. District Court Judge Leonie Brinkema will formally sentence Moussaoui Thursday at 10 a.m. PST.
