A Sweet Deal For The SCV Youth Project

khts cakeThe Santa Clarita Valley Youth Project is calling all confection specialists to participate in the 2nd Annual Sweet Charity Cake Auction.

The auction features an array of cakes designed by professionals, as well as those homebaked concoctions, with the theme revolving around companies, organizations, missions, products.

In last year’s competition, Princess Cruses had a boat cake, designed to reflect a new ship in their fleet, while Valencia Acura’s cake was a tire with a dog representing their pooch “speed bump.”

The cakes are then auctioned off with all the proceeds going to the organization.

“No one really knew what to expect [last year], and I was really excited to see that people really into it, and it looked amazing,” said Kim Goldman, Executive Director of the SCV Youth Project.

Cakes will be judged on originality and creativity, and prizes will be awarded in those categories as well as to the baker whose cake brings in the most money for the SCV Youth Project.

According to Goldman, last year’s event brought in more than $10,000 for the charity.

This year’s event will take place at the Tournament Players Club golf course.

A wide-range of sponsors are available from the “Sugar Sponsor,” which goes for $1000, to a “Sprinkle Sponsor,” which runs for $100.

There will be cocktails and appetizers at the March 27 auction.  The reception starts at 6 p.m. and runs until 10 p.m.

The SCV Youth Project works with local high school students to help them with problems facing teens.   For more information on the SCV Youth Project and the Sweet Charity Cake Auction click here.
