Sheriff and Fire Department personnel responded Saturday morning to Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital to check out a reported bomb scare that proved to be a false alarm.
Sgt. Sam Soehnel of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station said staffers at the Valencia hospital “erred on the side of caution” when they thought they overheard a threatening comment in a cell phone call.
It seems someone accidentally “butt” dialed Henry Mayo with a cell phone, and the hospital staffer on the other end of the line heard something to indicate there might be cause for alarm.
There wasn’t – but the incident kept emergency responders tied up until shortly after noon.
