Ruby Jane Smith came to Santa Clarita for an evening of bluegrass music at Vincenzo’s in Newhall.
As one of the world’s premier fiddlers, Ruby Jane took the chance to join local bluegrass band the Grateful Dudes for a jam session Saturday night.
At just 13, Ruby Jane is blazing a trail in Bluegrass music circles, regularly shows with Willie Nelson, Asleep At The Wheel, Dale Watson, and many other well known musicians.
In addition to making musical history as the youngest fiddle player to be invited to grace the stage of the coveted Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, she has performed with the likes of Marty Stuart, Rhonda Vincent, and Big and Rich.
She has competed in dozens of prestigious music competitions and was the recipient of the 2007-2008 Daniel Pearl Memorial Violin at last year’s Strings Conference in San Diego.
