Anthony Edward Janow entered a no contest plea on Aug. 5 to one felony count of grand theft of personal property and one misdemeanor count each of destroying evidence and resisting, obstructing and delaying a peace officer in case PA079026.

Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Lloyd Nash of the San Fernando Branch also sentenced Janow to three years formal probation, following his release from jail.

His codefendant, Jameson Brooks Witty, 19, was sentenced to six months in county jail and three years formal probation on Aug. 14.

On Aug. 5, Witty pleaded no contest to one misdemeanor count each of grand theft of personal property, destroying evidence and resisting, obstructing and delaying a peace officer.

Both men stole a roof panel from a tow truck carrying the demolished vehicle that was stopped at a red light in Valencia on Nov. 30, 2013, prosecutors said.

Witty and Janow stole the parts after a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputy had told them they could not take any piece of the wreckage, prosecutors added.
